Colonel McQueen took both weapons and moved cautiously toward the entrance of the cave. The two pulse rifles were the only hope against these damned Chigs. The Colonel crouched down and observed the chain of hills, where the sun set slowly. McQueen asked himself, how all of this could happen. The 58th had already been rescued from this damned planet. Only the Lieutenant and himself were left, in this freezing cave, on this planet, were no life existed, except the Chigs who kept anyone from entering or leaving the cave. The Lieutenants groaning ripped him out of his thoughts. He climbed back into cave. The Lieutenant had been hit on her right lobe of the lungs and leg. In McQueens opinion she wouldn't live to the next sunrise. If he just could distract the Chigs somehow to get down into the valley. The Colonel put a fresh bandage on the Lieutenant and gave her a sip of water. That was all he could do. He started to explore the darkness of the cave. His electric torch cut through the stillness of the dark. After a while a gigantic vault opened before him. It was closed all around. Damn! No exit! Nothing! Nothing but rock. Yet... there was something. A soft breath of air? Or was he mistaken? He took a pack of matches from his pocket, lighted one and searched the rock. He almost burned his fingers. But then it happened. Like magic, it went out. That was it. Just put this one rock aside and then, down to the valley. The Colonel pushed and pushed with all his power. And finally he managed... And then - a click. The last thought, a mine and ... a deafening detonation.. The Colonel was send to the wall on the other side. He could fell a hot burning rushing through his body. Then everything went dark.
